On Tuesday, we'd Chinese Oral. Aww, the answers are almost the same. I die die simply choose one answer

I didn't go for school for three consecutive days as I'm going for an attachment which I can have the chance to get familiar with zebrafish. I haven't heard of zebrafish before, I'm not sure about you. But it definitely was an eye-opening experience, just like what I had during June holidays.

Basically, this attachment programme was held in A star, biopolis ( somewhere near Buona Vista). It was a fruitful experience I would say.

For the first day, everyone was very excited about zebrafish! Firstly, we collected their embryos from an adult male and an adult female! Next, we placed the embryos into four petri dish with egg water (no bacteria) and subsequently placed them into the 28C incubator to let them develop!

We're divided into 6 bench and each bench were assigned to one teratogen. Our teratogen is ethanol, which is a very very poisonous teratogen to embryos, in other words, it'll kill the embryos! How pathetic. Despite knowing that the zebrafish will die, we need to continue carrying out the experiment!

Starting our teratogen treatment! (please note that they'll throw these fish away at the end of the course as they don't want to affect the ecosystem!) We have three petri dishes and each one is diluted with 100ul, 250ul and 300ul of ethanol respectively. One petri dish, on the other hand, is used as a control. We then use a fine needle to introduce a hole in the chorion of the embryos under a light microscope. This is where we killed some fish because of violence. At the end of the day, we put the petri dishes back into incubator again.

On the second day, we dechorionated the zebrafish! Awww, this is awful, I tell you. Dechrionation, a new word for me, anyway, it's disgusting! Most importantly, I killed some zebrafish during this process... I didn't want to, but I accidentally did it. :( Apart from that, we counted the number of zebrafish that died. RIP. This marked the end of second day.

Subsequently, on the third day. we observe the zebrafish again. All fish died, except those in control.... Hmmm, how pathetic. What tells you that die? When you see an opaque egg york, which is like blackish-shit in the middle of the embryos, that tells you they're dead. On the other hand, those which are still alive have translucent egg york, which you can see through clearly.


The zebrafish is almost developed after 60 hours. So, you can see its heartbeat as well as the blood flowing thought their body!

Lesson from this programme, DON'T KILL FISH and DON'T DRINK ALCOHOL WHEN YOU'RE PREGNANT! YOU'LL KILL YOUR BABY!!!

At the end of the programme, the ACS(B) students created a group at facebook called I LOVE ZEBRAFISH. It's time for you to love the nature! They really really need our help.

Bad News for Germany

Germany lost in the semi-final, so sad cursed Paul, the octopus!!!!!!

I'm gonna sit for my mother tongue oral next Monday, hope my legs won't turn jelly (the sign of being nervous) when I'm taking the test. Wan Ting took the test just now, don't know how she did, but sure she did very well, hey Wan Ting is smart, don't you know that?

I love fish & co, I don't know why. I just feel an "attachment" towards it!

Oh, I have another good recommendation. If you come to Singapore or you ARE in Singapore, do try out "Sogurt" at Bukit Timah Road, it really is nice, and I bet Wan Ting will like it, cause it's made of yogurt, that means it's healthy! May be the yogurt-ice-cream is slightly more expensive than what I used to pay for a cup of ice-cream in Island Creamery, but you should try it. Under what circumstances, you SHOULD TRY!!!! You can take as much as you want, according to how much you're going to eat. Before paying, they'll weigh your ice-cream, and you pay $3.30 for 100g. (yogurt-ice-creams are light) Go now, take your time, and indulge yourself in ice-cream.

Not forgetting to mention that I met Lee Hui Hui that day at Hwa Chong bus stop. It's surprising, for me, as I didn't talk to her before, and we started our conversation in Sg! Two Malaysians started their very first conversation in Sg, is it weird?

Thank you for the... booklet?(sort of) you guys made. Yo, my friends, this really is a surprise for me. I like it very much, in fact I will bring it to Sg. It evokes the memories I had with all of you, and yea I still can remember ALL of you! No one is forgotten!

Looking back on Monday and Wednesday, I felt utterly happy. When I saw everyone I was glad to see every of your faces which doesn't change much! You guys are wonderful friends I had.

Oh, btw, I like Chong Hwa a lot. really really like it.

I didn't post this on 23rd. I'm editing it now and will post it soon. It's almost the end of school holiday. I'm now in my hostel. I decided to finish this post this morning but due to my late arrival to airport, I couldn't make it. Anyway, I'm writing it now, so who cares?

This morning, I didn't feel like going back to Sg although I was in airport already.

Oh, today when I saw Hui Koon and Quinny, they looked somewhat different. Hui Koon had a hair cut, she has short fringe now. Quinny has taken off her braces! Congratulate her! but she's very naughty, she doesn't want to wear the retainer sometimes.

I'm announcing the end of this post, sorry for writing a very short one. I'm tired.

Oh Malaysia

I'm back to my tanah air! I always have the sense of belonging when I'm back to my fatherland. I think everyone feels exactly what I feel!

World Cup has just officially started. I'm not sure whether y'know my daddy is a huge football fan!!! So, I assume he'll glue himself on the sofa for the whole day and keep his eyes on the television, without missing any matches. Haha So I will let him watch, I mean, I will sacrifice my favourite tv programmes. With the arrival of World Cup, do play football with your friends, have some matches with neighbours! It'll be great.

I prefer spending money in Malaysia. I guess it's because in Singapore, I keep telling myself that I will broke one day if I spend too much and don't save money. This is one of the reasons why I like Malaysia.

Why did I go back and forth?

I was required to attend a Science Research Exposure Programme. We enrolled ourselves in various experiments and did visit some institute.

Right on the first day, we introduced ourselves as this is known as the "official yet standard" kind of opening. From that, we (Hui Koon and I) knew that not only both of us are Malaysians, but also another guy who seemed to be quite quiet and shy.

Post-exam

Eh, please la, I’m not that addicted to day-dreaming, Wan Ting. I confess I like to day-dream when I was studying. And, yea, you caught me day-dreaming but I was just having some rest, some only. My brain needs to relax.

I have been slacking around as exam week is over. Life is better, without exams. I wonder if the world would become non-competitive one day. I look forward to it. However, it seems hopeless. Forget it.

Last Friday, I woke up at this unearthly hour, 12 am, and wonder to myself why I woke up. Good question, why? ‘CAUSE MY STOMACH WAS DAMN HUNGRY.

A quick update of recent event as I’m lazy to type them out.

We had debate enrichment programme for the past two days. Everyone has the opportunity to speak and present in front of the class. So, I'm the fourth speaker and all I need to do is rebutting which I'm not familiar with. Also, I've limited vocab so it's very hard for me to elaborate my points or rebut my opponents. Sad.

Post-exam activities are boring, some aren't.

I’m currently reading “The Five People You Meet in the Heaven” a Mitch Albom book. It’s brilliant! I didn't regret reading this book. People think of heaven as a paradise garden, a place where they can float on clouds and laze in rivers and mountains. But scenery without solace is meaningless.

I’m getting my results tomorrow (all, I suppose). I might be overwhelmed by test papers. Save me, thanks! I didn’t do well in most of the subjects. Cross finger. Does this work?

I’ve not been to computer lab for a long time. Though I’m sitting in the lab now, I have a strange feeling.

Quinny complained that I have very short posts. She was like “Why the hell this girl ended her post suddenly and I haven’t even read enough.” Ha. To deny this, I wrote a fairly long post. Also, I left her a nice long comment. That’s enough, I think.

I've received all my results, I got heart attack la, can the school don't do this kind of thing anymore? It hurts my heart (and adrenal glands). Plus, my hands were trembling most of the time. Serious! Overall was okay. Yea, okay only. The worst subject is Geo. I know this is quite abnormal. People usually don't do badly for their Geo, do they?
